A Life Filled With Purpose...

Each one of us has been created for a very amazing and specific reason that is larger than ourselves. Once will plug into kingdom agenda and match our plans with the cause of Jesus, the reason we were created will come to light.

Living life with God and being propelled by purpose is exhilarating and exciting. I love reading Isaiah 61, because this chapter is a very strong reminder that every gift and talent that God has given is for a purpose. That purpose has to line up with God's love-plan for humanity.

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.

These three verses of Isaiah 61 serve as a guide to me. This is why I was born. This is why I am anointed. This is why God called me to intimate relationship. So that as I fellowship with Him and bask in His loving kindness, I can tell other people about Him. I can carry good news, proclaim freedom and comfort those who mourn. This divine purpose is bigger than even we that carry it, but it is ours nonetheless.

Ephesians 2:10 says this:

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

As children of God, we are born to live lives filled with purpose. What are the good works that God prepared for me to do? What am I created for? These are questions that I ask myself over and over again as seasons change in my life. I pray that our lives will be given fully to be used by Jesus to do the work that He so masterfully prepared us for before we were even a thought in the minds of our parents. I pray that our lives will be filled and consumed with divine purpose.

  1. It looks like the resounding theme this week is "Purpose." In almost everything I read. Thanks for sharing Isaiah 61 and reigniting our purpose in God.

  2. AMEN GIRLIE!!! This is why we are here! To proclaim His good news!! To heal the brokenhearted! To set captives free by the freedom that we have already found to be true in Christ. Those verses, Proverbs 31:8-9 and so many others propel me forward everyday and have me seeking God to find what my purpose is through every season in my life. Keep letting the world know who God is and what our purpose is as you go deeper in Him, girl!

  3. Great one Bona! I have often referred to Isaiah 61 as my "life scripture." This is what we're meant to do. When Jesus would start His ministry, He quoted Isaiah 61.
